Ultramarathon Man Dean Karnazes and Karno Kids Say, "Get Up, Get Out..."

SAN LEANDRO, California -September 8, 2006- Dean Karnazes, Ultramarathoner, health expert, and author is answering to a higher calling. Karnazes is motivated to raise awareness of health and physical fitness. Says Karnazes, "As a nation, we've let our health slip in a big way, especially with our youth, and I hope this endeavor will be a wake-up call that it's time to reverse this unfortunate slide." In addition to spreading his fitness message throughout the country, Karnazes is planning to raise money for Karno Kids along the way. Karno Kids is an organization committed to encouraging young people to get outdoors and become more physically active.

The Karno Kids message to "Get Up, Get Out", focuses on the importance of physical wellness of our youth and restoring and preserving the environment so that our generation, and generations to follow, can enjoy the great outdoors and magnificent natural resources this country has to offer. Statistics show that one-third of our youth (25 million) are either overweight or obese.
