Four of The North Face Athletes Summit Mount EverestFour members of The North Face athlete team summited Mount Everest during the months of May and June. Conrad Anker led teammate Kevin Thaw on a re-creation of George Mallory's speculated ascent, summitting June 14. Willie Benegas became the second Westerner to make successful back-to-back Everest summits on May 24, with a mere 3 day rest in between, his second one in calm, dark conditions, standing at the top of the world in pitch black. John Griber made his first Mount Everest summit on May 22 as cinematographer for the Werner Berger expedition.
